STRATFORD TOWN WALK

Stratford upon Avon's premier walking tours. Multi-award-winning Town Walks and Ghost Walks

Since 2002, Stratford Town Walk’s team of professional, dedicated tour guides have provided high quality guided walking tours that are lively, entertaining and informative.  Quality of service and customer satisfaction is reflected in numerous customer reviews and awards.

The Town Walk is available every day (even Christmas Day).  Press the red button to book online NOW!

Enjoy a stroll around the ancient streets to discover Stratford’s history and fascinating relationship with William Shakespeare. ‘It’s like walking through the pages of history”, “a must do”, “best money spent in England”.

The Ghost Walk (Saturdays and Halloween) is entertainment with a difference, exploring Stratford’s darker history.  Good old-fashioned storytelling. The guides are professional entertainers and deliver the Ghost Walk in their own unique style. “Great entertainment”.

A range of private Bespoke Tours are available for small and large groups, on a day and time of choice.  In addition to the Town Walk and Ghost Walk, how about a ‘Town Walk with ghost stories’, or a non-Shakespeare walk ‘Walking Without Will’ (no mention of William Shakespeare).

Please explore the website by clicking on the drop-down menu buttons which appear at the top of every page and contact us if you would like more information.

We hope to hear from you soon and look forward to making your visit to Stratford a memorable and special occasion.  As William Shakespeare wrote: “I like this place and willingly could waste my time in it”

OUR TOURS

OUR STORY

Stratford Town Walk was established in June 2002 by John and Helen Hogg and together with a team of dedicated, enthusiastic guides provides award-winning public and private Town Walks and Ghost Walks.

The sightseeing Town Walk launched first and very quickly became a ‘must do’ with visitors.  Then, following demand for Ghost Walks, John (member of The Magic Circle) researched the darker side of Stratford’s history and introduced the Stratford Ghost Walk.  It’s entertainment with a difference, an evening stroll around the ‘haunted’ streets of Stratford upon Avon to discover the ancient buildings seeping with terrible tales and sinister stories of ghosts, witches, murder and mayhem.

Bespoke private tours for couples, families and all kinds of groups (including Schools, Colleges and Universities) were swiftly added to the guiding portfolio.  Corporate groups welcome the chance to explore the town before ending at a cosy pub or restaurant and groups on a tight schedule are delighted to welcome a guide on their coach for an entertaining panoramic tour.

Following the Covid-19 outbreak, social distancing walks were introduced for households/bubbles.  Later, when rules were relaxed and meeting up/mixing was allowed public and private walks resumed – albeit with limited numbers – resulting in a more enjoyable experience for customers and guides

REVIEWS

We always make a point when visiting somewhere new, of going on a guided tour. Having been on many I can say this is right up there with the best of them. Meeting at 11am by the swan statue near the RSC, its a great way to see some of the famous landmarks of Stratford upon Avon. Our guide on the day had an encyclopedic knowledge of the town, and appears to have missed her vocation as a Shakespearean actor. A great way to spend 2 hours and well worth it.

Thank you.

I wanted to drop you a quick line to let you know how much my eight Australian visitors and myself enjoyed the guided walk around the beautiful town of Stratford yesterday. The guide was fantastic! A great credit to you; she made the tour so interesting and entertaining. She had a charming way of delivering the history of Shakespeare and of the town and truly captured the full attention of everybody in the group. I would highly recommend this walk to anyone.

Went on a ghost walk around Stratford last night (Saturday 14th March) and it was very entertaining. If you are looking for something different then this walk is a must. He told us all about the histories of the town from the Black Death to spirits visiting the buildings which I must say certainly look very eerie at night. I really enjoyed the experience and so did my family and the guide told it all in a very magical way. The price was good and I recommend you experience it for yourself.

We attended the tour on a cold, windy February day but we barely noticed. The guide was a fantastic, very knowledgeable, providing lots of interesting titbits of information about many of the buildings in Stratford, as well as the Shakespeare family and properties. He was adept at keeping the tour interesting for adults and children alike. For two and a half hours of entertainment you can’t go wrong! Highly recommended a must to-do if you are visiting Stratford.

Having the opportunity to tour Stratford on Christmas morning with our mom was very special, and I would like to express my sincere gratitude to both guides for giving their time on Christmas morning to share their historic and beautiful town with all of us. We are most grateful.
I would highly recommend the Stratford Town Walk to anyone visiting Stratford, and if you plan on visiting this enchanting historic town during Christmas, you certainly should make this a part of your holiday experience. If you have limited mobility, please don’t let your worries keep you from participating.

Fabulous. Trip organised at VERY short notice. Very prompt and clear communications. All COVID restrictions were adhered to but did not spoil our enjoyment. Our tour guide…. Oh my goodness. What a lovely chap! Very funny, well informed and interesting to listen to. All questions answered. Thought we had a good knowledge of William Shakespeare, but learnt so much more including anecdotes not normally found in a textbook. Really brought history to life in a thoroughly educational and interesting way. If only history lessons at school were this enjoyable.
