Town guides are the Pride of Stratford!
Stratford Town Walk has been awarded 'Tourism Initiative of the Year' in the prestigious Touch FM Pride of Stratford Awards 2015.
A magnificent and much-coveted glass Swan trophy was presented by Paralympian, gold medallist James Roe MBE, at the fourth glittering Oscar-style ceremony held at the Holiday Inn Hotel on 13 February.
Stratford Town Walk has been providing guided walking tours around Stratford upon Avon every day of the year since 2002. It was initiated by local couple, John and Helen Hogg, who identified a gap in the guiding market and drew together a team of enthusiastic guides who were passionate about Stratford and keen to show people around the world-famous market town.
To meet demand, Ghost Walks soon entered into the guiding equation, followed by themed cruises in partnership with Bancroft Cruisers. Now over 30 local businesses support Stratford Town Walk and give discounts to walk customers.
Helen Hogg said, "We are absolutely over the moon to receive this prestigious award and are very grateful to Lise Evans from More Than PR who nominated us. We see this as recognition of the dedication, commitment and quality of our lovely team of guides, and acknowledgement for the local businesses who support us. Winning this award is a wonderful occasion in Stratford Town Walks' history."

Herbert's stage - the medieval streets of ancient Stratford.
Dressed in black top hat and tails and carrying brief case, cane and necessary tape measure, his somber disposition displays only too well the task he undertakes - so seriously.
Perhaps not for those of a nervous disposition. The stories about a young woman buried alive and the poor soul dragged from the river-bed, may send shivers down a shaky spine. Do their ghosts still haunt the area?
The 2014 Halloween Walk is in partnership with the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust. The special evening lasts around 2 1/4 hrs and consists of an entertaining Ghost Walk around the ancient streets to hear tales of ghosts, witches, murder and misery. The tour includes a visit to 'haunted' Halls Croft, (once visited by the television programme 'Most haunted live' for a private tour. The willing 'victims' have the opportunity to explore this magnificent building and to 'sup' a glass of mulled wine before setting off again on the grisly perambulations.
