Look out for the Guide (wearing something yellow), standing by a lamppost close to the Swan Fountain on Waterside, 200 yards in front of the Royal Shakespeare Theatre and opposite the junction of Sheep Street.

Town Walk highlights
As you walk in William Shakespeare’s footsteps from Birthplace to grave, along the historic spine of ancient Stratford, your guide will unravel the Shakespeare story. It’s like walking through the pages of history. The tour passes the town houses connected to William Shakespeare and his family – The Birthplace, New Place and Hall’s Croft.

Other highlights include the picturesque River Avon, the Royal Shakespeare Theatres, a range of architectural gems, Harvard House, the Guild Chapel, Shakespeare’s Grammar School and Guildhall and Holy Trinity Church.
Hear fascinating stories of fire, flood, plague, medieval medicines to kill or cure, the origins of old-fashioned sayings and Stratford’s history, wrapped up in a little Shakespeare.
See the unique collection of lampposts from around the world and hear a medley of interesting facts and snippets. Don’t forget your camera!

Whatever the weather!
The Town Walk goes ahead whatever the weather, so please dress accordingly. The walk is classed as ‘easy going’. Walking boots/shoes are not necessary, but comfortable footwear is advisable.
There may be occasions when the footpaths are wet, or slippery with ice or snow and if the weather is extreme, the walk may have to be shortened or cancelled for safety.
All Guides are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. The Town Walk is risk-assessed and every effort is taken to ensure the safety and comfort of all customers. However, customers participate at their own risk and must make their own decision about suitability. The Town Walk takes about 2hrs, but the duration will be determined by the pace of the group. Customers can leave the walk at any time. Children must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
